Appointment Today

I know what you're thinking after reading the post title. But you just had an appointment last week! Yeah, I know; I did. And here's another fact. I'm seeing another new doctor. In my previous post I briefly alluded to Dr. Agolli, a naturopath who treats using vitamin IVs. He is the doctor I am going to see today. I am hoping the IVs will decrease some of my POTS symptoms and give me some more energy. I'm not certain if I'll be receiving any of those today, but it's possible. I have a feeling he'll want to run some other tests before starting that treatment. So this weekend I filled out another long medical history form, and will be going over my two-year story yet again. I think I'm getting rather used to this.... :)

Just to clarify, I am not seeing Dr. Agolli because I disagree or am dissatisfied with the care I am receiving from Dr. Conley. I am willing to try anything I can that I feel will promote healing, and after research, this is something that could possibly help, so I will pursue where ever this natural track takes me. What it can help with, I will take; what it cannot help with, I will seek help with from elsewhere (as I have already been doing). I will probably not be able to see Dr. Agolli more than a few times during the remainder of my short stay in Georgia, so this will be a temporary treatment - but hopefully one with long-lasting results.

Any questions, just leave them below as a comment and I will reply!

  1. Funny, reading your post it didn't even occur to me that seeing another doctor so soon after the last appointemnt might lead people to assume you were disatisfied with the first. Before my recent surge of improvement I required quite the team - MCS/allergy doc, pain specialist, naturopath, compounding pharmacist (they know a lot more about drugs than the doctors, and we consulted ours regularly), counselor, massage therapist, and that's not to mention all the additional specialists I cycled through (neurologists, gastroenterologists, etc). Moreover, if some doctors had their way I'd also have been seeing a dietician, psychologist, occupational therapist, and who knows what other -ticianist they can come up with a name for.

I've taken to invoking the phrase "my TEAM of medical professionals" whenever someone begins to infer that they think the reason I'm not well is because I'm somehow receiving sub-par care. Referencing one's doctorS - in the plural - can tend to help people get the idea that this isn't your average medical problem.

    1. Heidi, you are so right. Seeing a number of doctorS is much more helpful than seeing just one. I am thankful for the good ones I have discovered who have been able to help me!

Disclaimer: If you have a health resource you can't resist sharing, I would love to hear about it if you feel it will be truly helpful. I am already doing my best to fight this illness from a nutritional, structural, as well as medical stand-point. Please avoid comments with "miracle cure" stories about your Aunt Milly's granddaughter who drank coltsfoot tea for a week and has been fine ever since. I'm very thankful it worked for her in her case, but there are so many environmental, emotional, and other factors that make CFS/ME complicated and different from just an average illness. That being said, please leave thoughtful and uplifting comments below.
